A Letter from Father Thomas

ON THE OCCASION OF OUR INAUGURAL LITURGY

August 6, 2018

Martyrs Boris and Gleb

Dear Friends in Christ,

I am pleased to announce that the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia will be having regular liturgies in Fort Wayne starting Sunday August 12, 2018! We invite you to join us!

Archbishop Peter closed Holy Trinity Parish in Fort Wayne and lovingly did not leave us without a spiritual home and opened a new mission parish of the Russian Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR).

The new mission church is called St. Paisius (Velichkovsky).  Calendar and information is available at the new church web site at www.orthodoxfw.com. Services are currently held at St. Mary's Romanian Orthodox Church, 2902 Evans Street (corner of Evans and Adams Street), Fort Wayne, Indiana 46806.  This is in south east Fort Wayne.  The Romanian Parish has services themselves once a month. Liturgy is at 10:00 a.m. with confession promptly before the service at 9:30 a.m. A coffee hour follows. Services will be mostly English with some Slavonic.

I, Fr. Thomas, was ordained to the Priesthood by Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid-America on Sunday, May 20th of this year at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Church in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  I will be serving liturgy in Fort Wayne on a regular basis.  My seminary studies are over but I am continuing to learn Slavonic and Russian albeit rather slowly.  For regular attendees who desire greatly a Russian confessor, we will work with them to make that happens on occasion.  I would appreciate your prayers as I begin my priestly duties.

It is a great blessing to have this new parish.  I invite you to visit anytime and welcome anyone to make Saint Paisius Orthodox Church their regular spiritual home.  We are here for each other.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.

In Christ,

Father Thomas Sprunger
